Who we are

Radio IDs operates radioids.com. Customer data is hosted in the United States, in DigitalOcean's New York region, because that is where most of our customers broadcast and it is the shortest path to them.

Where your data lives, and what that means

Because our servers are in the United States, your data is subject to US law, including lawful access requests by US authorities. This matters differently depending on where you are:

  • Canadian stations: PIPEDA still governs how we handle your data, and we are telling you plainly — as it requires — that the data is processed outside Canada.
  • EU and UK stations: the GDPR applies, and transferring your data to the US needs a lawful transfer mechanism. Ask us which one covers your account before you sign up; we would rather answer than have you assume.

What we collect

  • Account data: name, email, organization, role, locale, and your sign-in credentials.
  • Station data: call sign, city of licence, format, languages, slogan, show names and pronunciations you enter.
  • Order data: briefs, scripts, generated audio, and the quality-control results for each take.
  • Billing data: handled by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers.
  • Operational logs: request logs, job timings and vendor costs per order.

What we send to third parties

Scripts and briefs are sent to our language-model vendor to write copy, and scripts are sent to our voice vendor to render speech. Generated audio is sent to a transcription service to check it against the script. Where a vendor offers an option not to train on API data, we take it. Music and sound effects are generated on hardware we control and are not sent anywhere.

Voice cloning

We only create a cloned voice with the written, verified consent of the person whose voice it is. That person can withdraw consent at any time, and we will stop generating new audio with that voice. Cuts already delivered are not recalled.

How long we keep things

Intermediate stems are deleted after 90 days. Delivered masters are kept for the life of the account plus 90 days, so you can re-download them. Request deletion of your account and we will complete it within 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to us from the address on your account and we will verify the request before acting on it.
